American Stories of Hope highlights themes in the African American experience and the power of hope in overcoming oppression and challenges.

Dr. Mark Lomax, II, Associated Faculty in Musicology at The Ohio State University and a specialist in the socio-political and spiritual aspects of African American art music and race, will be the featured guest composer. UCelli: The Columbus Cello Quartet will perform Lomax's "Freedom's Train," written for cello quartet and chamber orchestra. Fiber Artist Cynthia Lockhart has created a woven tapestry inspired by the program's music and theme, which will be raffled off at the concert.
